FINANCE AND OPERATIONS COMMITTEE

  • ABOUT THE COMMITTEE

     

    The purpose of the Finance and Operations Advisory Committee is to monitor and advise administration and the Board on finance related issues and trends, large facility improvement projects, and the general business and operations of the district, which includes printing, purchasing, transportation, enrollment demographics and planning, and food and nutrition services.

     

     

    COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES

     

    The Finance and Operations Committee will serve in an advisory capacity to administration and the Board of Education.  Some of the duties include but may not be limited to the following:

     

    • Review financial reports and presentations including statistical analysis of district revenues and expenditures.

    • Review the District’s practices, policies, procedures, and guidelines related to financial matters of the district and provide recommendations, as needed, to the Board of Education.

    • Study and deliberate financial issues and areas of fiscal concern to the district.

    • Review budget considerations to be considered by the board and provide feedback.

    • Review bids and purchases requiring board approval.

    • Review school design concepts and budgets for new buildings and major renovations.

    • Advise the board on construction and facility-related issues.

    • Receive monthly standing reports from Directors in the Finance and Operations division.

    • Review initiatives and projects related to the Blue Valley Blueprint and Strategic Plan

     

    Members of Board Advisory Committees should conduct themselves in a manner that elevates public discourse and demonstrates good judgment and decorum. Spirited discussion and debate are encouraged. Where there is disagreement, the expectation is that such disagreement is expressed civilly and with respect for other perspectives. Advisory Committee members shall demonstrate respect and civility toward individual District staff members, Board members, or other Advisory Committee members, whether in public meetings or via social media outlets. It is up to each member to maintain a professional and productive environment.
