• Hearts in Motion

The second grade classes have been studying the principals of design movement and rhythm. They learned that by repeating the elements of art, such as color, line, and shape, they can lead the viewers eye through a work of art. The second grade artists used a heart stencil that they created to repeat the same shape throughout their composition. They then repeated colors to create even more movement.

They also learned that art also has rhythm. Instead of repeating sounds and times like in music, art's rhythm is created by repeating the elements.
