Friday, September 7, 2012
Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow,
Cheetah Champions Forever...
FYI
-
Good Afternoon,
Picture day is Tuesday, September 11th! It is also an early dismissal day, we dismiss at 2:00.
Our tentative dates for MAP testing are as follows:
-
Math-Wednesday, September 12 at 12:40pm
-
Reading-Tuesday, September 18 at 12:40pm
Our first learning excursion will be on Tuesday, October 2nd. We will be going to Lanesfield School House. A permission form will be sent home in the next few weeks. I will need three parent helpers to join us on this day. Send me an email if you are available. It will be an all day event.
September 17th is Citizenship Day. Wear red, white, and blue that day.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Worth Repeating:
LEAD 21: Mr. Marsh is going to be adding a new feature in the parent E-Update regarding LEAD 21. For the next several months, a special highlight of the program will be provided to parents. This week the feature is the LEAD 21 web page. Make sure to check it out!
A note from Mrs. Bettis...
We ask for your help and support to see that each Cedar Hills student has an opportunity to grow with our reading incentive program, "CARRY OUT A GOOD BOOK!" The school's goal is for the students and staff of CHE to reach 222,222,222 minutes of recreational reading time during this school year. We ask that you post the reading record calendar in a prominent place in your home to encourage your children's participation in our all school quest to accumulate these minutes. Please remind your children to record their reading time each evening and to return the calendar at the first of every month, with the total time read noted, to their teacher on the scheduled date. A new calendar will come home to cover the next monthly reading period. A September calendar should have gone home in your child's backpack this week. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students become lifelong readers.
The PowerPoint, handout, LEAD 21 PowerPoint, and other information are now up on the website. Go to our page, click on "Forms and Documents" and you will find the resources in the "Back to School Night" folder.
A note from the new Strings teacher : My name is Joanna Metsker and I am the new strings teacher at Cedar Hills. Your child has the amazing opportunity to participate in strings class this year! Earlier this week, I met with all 4th grade students to give them information about their instrument choices and the Cedar Hills strings program. They received an informational packet about strings. It also contains the enrollment form for 4th grade strings. If your child missed this meeting or lost the packet, please go to my website to download a new one. www.bluevalleyk12.org/prm/strings The packet is found in the Elementary Documents tab. Next week, your child will have the opportunity to try out the instrument they are interested in. Our first official class will be September 3rd; students should turn in enrollment forms by that date and also bring the instrument they rented or bought. Information about obtaining an instrument is available in the packet. I am looking forward to a great year of music making!
